DIY Valentine’s Day Decor

Valentine’s Day is coming

After the new year rolls in it’s time to take down the Christmas tree and prepare for what’s next on the calendar. Valentine’s Day is coming. It is widely recognized as a day for celebrating friendship, romance, and love with the people closest to you. Americans spend nearly $19 billion on presents and festivities every year. If you’re the kind of person that likes to splurge on your honey for Valentine’s Day or, better yet, if you’re a frugal spender, there are ways you can save on decor. With a little creativity and craftiness you can create some nice DIY decorations for your home, office, school classroom, or wherever you‘d like to spruce up for the occasion. Here are some DIY Valentine’s Day craft ideas that you may enjoy even better than the store bought decor.

FLORAL CRAFTS

With some affordable artificial flowers you can make many Valentine’s Day creations. For example, you can make a heart shaped wreath for your front door. Simply fashion some pink and purple flowers on a grapevine wreath form and secure them using a hot glue gun. It’s that easy!

BALLOON CRAFTS

Using balloons you can create a backdrop for taking fun Valentine’s Day photos. First you’ll have to form a heart shaped base. Use something like cardboard cut into pieces and taped together. Blow up a bunch of pink, white, or red balloons in several sizes. Then tape some of the balloons down to cover the cardboard base. Using tape or glue layer the balloons until you have the desired look. You can even add some artificial flowers if you’d like. Once it is complete use string tied to the backdrop and hang it up. Another idea is to blow up a bouquet of white balloons. Put on some red or pink lipstick and put some kisses all over the balloons. Then tie your smooch balloons anywhere you see fit.

FRAMED CRAFTS

Framed art is an easy way to add some decor to your home or office. You can find picture frames for as little as $1 each. Some ideas for your framed artwork can be handwritten love letters, paintings, printed photos, or scrabble letters glued into a romantic message. Add some jewels or glitter to your frame for finishing touches.

MASON JAR CRAFTS

Mason jars are a cute way to decorate for any season or occasion including Valentine’s Day decor. You can dip the jars into red or pink paint, tie ribbons around them, or paint hearts on them. You can fill these jars with themed candies. They also make great candle holders or flower vases.

CONSTRUCTION PAPER CRAFTS

Using construction paper and some string you can make all sorts of hanging decor to garnish your home or office. You can cut the paper into hearts, glue or string them together, and hang them along the stairs or fireplace. Get creative!

As you can see, the options are nearly endless. DIY Valentine’s Day decor can be easy and affordable to make on your own. Have your friends and family spend some time helping you create some beautiful decorations and make some memories in the process
